A good friend of mine once shared with me a snippet of wisdom that I've always kept. It goes like this: In order to get her ducks in a row, the mother duck need not walk around checking on all of her ducklings, corralling them into a straight line and making sure they're present and correct. No, when the mother duck wants her ducks in a row, she starts moving forward and they all fall in place.
It's a great reflection on the Virgo process that can get bogged down in the nitty gritty details of life, trying to make each part perfect before it can make anything happen. But recently I've been given a new sense of appreciation for the urge in us for perfection. Where would we be without those who aren't willing to settle for anything less than their highest vision? We'd be robbed of some of the greatest art, music, literature, film, etc of human history.
However, there's something about this moon that points far more to an inner process than an outer one. For many of us it's been a tumultuous time and we've gone through a lot of changes, pain and loss. We can just carry on like the good stoics we've been raised to be, spouting 'it's all good' and 'she'll be right' as we power through our lives. OR we can have the courage to sit with the pain and the loss, to go through the grieving process, and to truly feel what is going on inside. Like the mix says, from our hats down to our shoes.
Most of us will do anything to avoid that pain, and life provides us with infinite distractions, especially in the 21st century. If we want avoidance, we've got it at the swipe of a phone. Yet, if we have the courage to slow ourselves down, slip into the waters of ourselves and sidle up next to the pain, gently and easily, we might find there's something locked in there that we kinda need.
The Virgo Moon mix is designed to help you with that process, to get in touch with the personal and collective pain in a gentle and healing way. Press play, sit back and relax OR press play and do some yin yoga to get the body involved. Those are the prescriptions from Dr Tuna.
Yesterday, in the final phase of full moon mix preparations, I was reading the book Waking the Tiger by Peter Levine. It's a book about healing trauma and in it was the following quote from D.H. Lawrence:
'My belief is in the blood and flesh as being wiser than the intellect. The body-unconscious is where life bubbles up in us. It is how we know that we are alive, alive to the depths of our souls and in touch somewhere with the vivid reaches of the cosmos.'
Exactly, D.H., exactly.
